2005 Michigan Youth Arts Festival Participants
The highest scoring solo entries from the 2005 State Solo and Ensemble Festival were invited to become members of the MSBOA All-State Honors Band and Orchestra which will perform as a part of the Michigan Youth Arts Festival at Western Michigan University on May 12-14, 2005. Congratulations to the following music students who were selected to participate: Andrew Koeppe, Rob Bickley, Allison Simpson, Kaoru Matsushita, Alexander Houser, and Theresa Hansen. Our Woodwind Duet, comprised of Andrew Koeppe and Oliver Parsonage, was nominated as best ensemble.
In addition, the top 100 students from the State Festival were invited to audition for the State Concerto Concert to be performed as part of the State Youth Arts Festival at Western Michigan University in May. Pioneer students nominated to audition were Kenzie Slottow on flute, Andrew Koeppe on clarinet, Yishi Wang on clarinet, Allison Simpson on bassoon, Kaoru Matsushita on French horn, and Theresa Hansen on trombone. Based on her audition, junior flutist Kenzie Slottow was selected as one of the top ten finalists in the Concerto Competition. This is the highest honor that Instrumental Music students can receive from the State of Michigan.
