Drumline

Participation in fall drumline is a requirement for Symphony and Concert Band percussionists. This includes summer rehearsals, band camp rehearsals, band camp performances, marching band rehearsals, and home football game attendance.

Drumline

Conga is Symphony Band's drumline. It consists of the Symphony Band percussionists plus five wind/brass players who audition to play cymbals for the marching season. Individual instrument auditions are held in late April or May and rehearsals begin shortly afterwards. Although no previous experience is required, auditions are often highly competitive. Conga performs at Band Camp and at each home football game.

DrumlineAshiko is Concert Band's drumline. It consists of the Concert Band percussionists plus up to five wind/brass players who audition to play cymbals for the marching season. Individual instrument auditions are held in late May or June and rehearsals begin shortly afterwards. Ashiko is designed mainly for beginning marchers. Ashiko performs with the Concert Marching Band at the last home football game.

Between June and Band Camp in August, Conga and Ashiko hold two 2-hour rehearsals per week. Thereafter, marching band rehearsals and performances are the only commitment.

Ruckus is Pioneer's winter drumline. It is completely student-run and is open to any member of the Pioneer band program (including Varsity Band members and non-percussionists). Ruckus plays at Pioneer hockey games at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube about once a week.
