Robert Albritton Endowment Fund
Robert Albritton served as the Director of Bands for Pioneer High School for twenty years (1982-2002). He upheld the traditions of excellence of his predecessors and moved the program forward with an ever-expanding itinerary of festival tours and concert appearances. In 2001, Albritton led the Symphony Band and a delegation of students and guests to China, resulting in an amazing cultural exchange of music and an awesome opportunity for our students.
Albritton exemplified the role of the band director as a leader, a mentor, and a lifelong friend to his students. Through generous donations from band alumni, students, and families and matching funds from the Pioneer Band Association, an endowment fund in Albritton’s honor was established with the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation. This endowment now provides an annual Robert Albritton Scholarship Award to a deserving band student who will be returning to the band program. The scholarship is to be used for an outside music camp or program experience. The size of the scholarship award depends on the size and performance of the endowment fund.
You can increase the effectiveness of the Robert Albritton Endowment Fund by making a tax-deductible donation. Donations can be made directly to the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, or band families may include a check with their Pioneer Bands Registration Form in August (see the information box on page 4 of the registration form.)
A donation to the Robert Albritton Endowment Fund carries the benefit of an additional Michigan tax credit. For further information or to make a donation, contact the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation online, via e-mail at info@aaacf.org, or by phone at 734-663-0401.
