The Pioneer Concert Band WINS IT ALL in the Toronto Festivals of Music International Competition! The Pioneer Concert Band under the direction of David A. Leach traveled to Toronto to participate in the Festivals of Music International Competition April 27-30, 2006. The competition included 10 different performing groups representing 5 or 6 different schools from several states.

The Pioneer Concert Band was the only concert band to receive a Superior rating in Class AA!

The Pioneer Concert Band won the The William D. Revelli Trophy as the highest scoring High School Concert Band, regardless of classification, competing against several Class AAA ensembles!

The Pioneer Concert Band won the Dr. Tim Lutzenheiser Esprit de Corps Award! The Festivals of Music Esprit de Corps Award recognizes participating organizations which display an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior. Unlike other trophies that focus on musical achievement based on the scores of the adjudication panel, this coveted prize spotlights the performance of the students throughout the festival weekend as they demonstrate their highest level of responsible behavior. Personal integrity, quality character values, a desire for excellence, and a spirit of cooperation serve as the cornerstone qualities of the Esprit de Corps Award. The Festivals of Music Esprit de Corps trophy now bears the name of one of our nations most respected and admired music educators. Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser. “Dr. Tim” has been a long-time member of the Festivals of Music family; his signature contribution over the past two decades is clearly recognized as an exclusive benefit to all. It is with enthusiastic fanfare we proudly title this award in his honor; a trophy that personifies the message he brings to countless students, directors and parents throughout the nation.

Congratulations Concert Band!
