NYC 2012:
Frequently Asked Questions

New York City photos What are the dates of the NYC Tour?

April 11–15

Why does the tour conflict with school?

Carnegie Hall availability dictates our tour dates this year. As one of the most prestigious performing halls in the world, it has very limited availability. There are no other factors weighing in regarding tour date choices.

Why is the tour scheduled so close to AP exams?

After AP exams, there are too many other activities, so we try to fit tour in before. Kids generally use the long bus ride home on Sunday to cram for APs.

What ensembles are going?

Symphony Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band

How will the students be traveling?

We will take three charter buses overnight Wednesday on the way there and all day Sunday on the way back. In New York, we will generally travel on foot or by bus.

In what hotel are the students staying?

The hotel has not been finalized, but will be announced when we know for sure.

Where are the students performing?

Symphony Band performs at Carnegie Hall. Concert Band and Jazz Band perform at the IBM Atrium.

Can the other ensembles experience being on the Carnegie Hall stage?

Carnegie is very restrictive in who is allowed on stage and for how long. We do not anticipate that students who are in other ensembles will be allowed on stage.

What else will the students be doing in New York?

Here is the current draft of the itinerary. A finalized version will be available soon. Among other things, we will see the Statue of Liberty, the 9/11 Memorial, Times Square, and a Broadway show.

What is the cost per student?

Students pay $1,789.

What are my payment options?

Payment can be made by check or credit card directly to Educational Tours, Inc. More information can be found in the document "Pioneer NYC Trip Payment Info"

Where is the band touring in 2013?

We don't know! We plan to tour internationally in 2013, but uncertainties in the economy and fundraising mean that touring in 2013 is not a sure thing.
