2013 Michigan Youth Arts Festival Nominations

Pioneer Band and Orchestra students participated in the State Solo & Ensemble Festival Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Chelsea High School. State-certified MSBOA Adjudicators evaluated each performance.

As a result of their performance at the STATE Solo and Ensemble Festival, the following Pioneer Band and Orchestra students were nominated from over 10,000 high school students from the State of Michigan to participate in the MSBOA Youth Arts Festival Soloist auditions:

• Taylor Johnson (marimba)
• Anna Latterner (flute)
• Livia Luan (cello)
• Emma Sandberg (violin)
• Ellen Sauer (flute)

As a result of their performance at the STATE Solo and Ensemble Festival, the following Pioneer Band and Orchestra students were nominated as Outstanding Ensembles:

• Woodwind Ensemble: Clare Higgins (horn), Trevor King (bassoon), Anna Latterner (flute), Siyan Daniel Li (clarinet), Norah Rast (oboe)
• String Ensemble: Danny Luan (cello), Daniel Rothchild (cello), Helen Rucinski (violin)
• String Ensemble: Lydia Jang (cello), Josh Jung (violin), Michael Lee (violin), Helen Rucinski (viola), Irene Wei (viola)
• String Septet: Galen Burrell (bassoon), Rennie Cotner (horn), Dana Johnson (violin), Siyan Daniel Li (clarinet), Adam Olszewski (string bass), Daniel Rothchild (cello), Helen Rucinski (viola)
• Woodwind Chamber Ensemble: Shreya Bahl (bass clarinet), Alayna Coverly (bass clarinet), Kevin Jiang (clarinet), Siyan Daniel Li (clarinet), Griffin Roy (clarinet), Antonia Smith (bass clarinet), Gina Son (clarinet), Brinda Yarlagadda (bass clarinet), Tina Yu (clarinet), Alan Zhou (clarinet)

The following Pioneer Band and Orchestra students have been nominated to the Michigan Youth Arts Festival Honors Band:

• Joseph Buiteweg (tenor saxophone)
