Pioneer Band Gala & Auction Donations

Donating items for the Pioneer Band Gala and Silent Auction is optional. However, we encourage all families to get involved since it’s a great way to work together, be creative, and help us raise funds for the Pioneer Bands!

Donating Is As Easy as 1-2-3!

  1. The raffle, with its “Instant Wine Cellar” grand prize, was a big success last year. And it’s so easy! We simply ask every Pioneer Band family to donate a bottle of wine. It can be any type, pulled from your own shelf or purchased from a local purveyor.
  2. Donate a merchant gift card – of ANY VALUE! We suggest you support our local merchants by donating gift cards from their businesses, but we’ll TAKE ANYTHING. You might even consider “re-gifting” a few of those cards you may have received over the holidays. Or perhaps you could purchase a “voucher” for lesson time from your child’s private teacher to donate to the Gala. And don’t forget to involve the whole family - you could even ask your student to craft a “voucher” for babysitting or snow-shoveling time.
  3. A fun, creative way to donate is to assemble a “Family Basket” for the Silent Auction. Go with a little Roaring Twenties flair or pick a theme that reflects your family’s personal interests. And don’t limit your package to a “basket” – think outside the box with your packaging and items. Join other families, or band sections, and work as a team to assemble theme baskets. Sports tickets, electronics, items signed by celebrities (books, baseballs, hockey sticks, etc.), and photography all go great in baskets. Anything purple or musical to evoke Pioneer pride, too. Theatre/concert tickets and dinners are often best sellers, and “experiences” are very popular – a gourmet cooking lesson, for instance. But remember, all items should be new, non-perishable, and attractively packaged using clear wrapping material.

The hard work and talent of our students have brought them many honors and opportunities, but the success of our band program is not possible without family support. So whether you’re “crafty” and enjoy the creativity of putting together a basket, or feeling time-crunched and would simply like to donate a gift card or a bottle of wine, we are grateful to our wonderful band families for their continued support. Thank you!

All donations must be delivered by January 17, 2010. If you have any questions or problems, please contact Gala Co-Chairs Janene Centurione (danjan22@hotmail.com) or Ann Curtis (accurtis1@gmail.com).

DEADLINE: November 4th to Add Guests to China Tour

Dear Symphony Band Families

It’s not too late! Our tour director, Qiu Min Ji, (or Rebecca as she said I can call her) has reserved extra space for guests because it’s easier to release space than to get more later. Before we finalize our numbers are there any more parents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc. would like to travel to China with us? It’s an awesome opportunity. The itinerary is at:

http://aapioneerbands.org/wp-content/tours/2010/china_tour_itinerary.pdf.

The cost for guests is $2790. (The $2400 cost listed on the itinerary is for students in SB & JB only.)

If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks
-Gloria

Senior Recognition Night, 2009

Dear Senior Band Parents:

The spectacular halftime show on Friday, October 23rd, will showcase the Pioneer Concert and Symphony Bands in a combined performance. As part of this performance, we will be recognizing the Class of 2010 AND their parents.

Please plan on attending the game and arriving no later than 7:30 (the game starts at 7:00). When the Concert and Symphony bands enter the field sidelines before halftime, all Senior parents and Varsity band seniors will enter also, staying close to the fence. Parents will line up alphabetically by student’s last name A-Z spread out North to South along the inside of the fence. Several PBA members will have lists of the students names to help with this! Near the end of the half-time show, Mr. Leach will announce Senior Recognition time and the parents will step up to the sideline while the seniors run out of formation to stand with their parents. As the names of the families are read, each senior will step forward with their parents and then step back.

At the end of halftime, please stay along the sidelines and let the band members exit the field first.

Thank you and congratulations!!

China Tour Registration Form & Passport Copies

Hi Tour Families

It’s time to move ahead with paperwork for the tour.

First, make sure you’ve got April 1 - April 10, 2010 blocked out on your calendar for the tour. This is during AAPS Spring Break.

We’ve posted the “official” Tour Registration Form on our website. Each participant must fill one of these out with his/her legal name (the one on the passport you already have or have applied for). Please turn in the Registration Form and a copy of your passport (or the date you applied for it) by October 20th. This is the same date as our Tour Meeting and the next payment of $600 for students and $700 for adults.

If you haven’t applied for a passport, yet, click HERE to get started immediately. You can fill out the form and then take it to the post office or the Washtenaw County Clerk office at 200 N. Main St . You will also need passport photos.

Adults, please also fill out the AAPS Background Check Form.

Thank you
