The Yearbook staff is putting together a Marching Band page in the yearbook. All parents who take pictures of the marching band are requested to send great shots to vanderze@aaps.k12.mi.us with “Marching Band” in the subject line.
Thanks

According to the American Music Conference, “research has linked active music making with increased language discrimination and development, math ability, improved school grades, better-adjusted social behavior, and improvements in ’spatial-temporal reasoning’.” Check out the AMC’s Music and the Brain web report, to learn why kids really should be “playing at school.”

Hello Band Families
We’re gearing up for another amazing year for the Pioneer Bands. Jumping in with both feet, the first home football game for the Marching Band will be Friday, September 5th, and the Band Picnic is coming up on September 13th.
In between, on Tuesday, September 9th is our first Pioneer Band Association meeting for the 2008-09 school year and the only one that is mandatory. We ask that at least one parent or guardian from each family attend. It will be held in the Schreiber Auditorium (7:30-8:30 PM) to give us plenty of space. Among the agenda items are our restructured Family Fundraising Expectations, Volunteer Information and a Special Election to officially elect Ed Etter as our co-treasurer. He has been attending board meetings over the summer and you may have seen him at registration. We’re looking forward to making him official!
Gloria Wilson, President
Pioneer Band Association
